The second difference is the site itself. A JAFZA plot can be a single warehouse or several buildings around a large yard. Add a weighbridge lane, a truck waiting area and a staff gate on the far side. That distance rules out simple cabling. What happens on a typical visit in Jebel Ali
Free zone installs are planned in more detail than most, because the gate, the shifts and the yard distances all shape the day. Here is the usual sequence.

Pass cleared, vehicle in
Your admin team sponsors the gate pass and we send our ID and vehicle details in good time. On the day we clear the gate, report to your security post and sign the site induction if your operation runs one. Then we meet the operations manager.

Walk gate, yard and dock
We walk the route a truck takes: entry gate, weighbridge, waiting area, dock door, exit. At each point we confirm the camera position and angle agreed at the survey. Sun direction and floodlight positions are checked so plates and seals stay readable day and night.

Fibre between buildings
Where cameras sit on more than one building, we run fibre between them and mount a sealed outdoor switch near each camera group. Copper runs from those switches to the cameras stay within their rated length. Every link is tested before a single camera is powered.

Storage for the claim window
The recorder and any NAS are set up in the main office. Retention is matched to your insurance and customer terms, sixty or ninety days rather than the office norm. Streams are tuned so that retention is real, not a number on a quote.

Who applies for the gate pass, you or us?
Your company sponsors it, because the free zone issues passes against a tenant's request. We give you our engineer ID, vehicle details and the visit dates as soon as the job is booked. Then we chase the approval with you. For port side plots the same applies, with the extra induction some operators run.
Our trucks move all night. Can you install without stopping the yard?
Yes, with planning. We plan the work around shift handover and quiet bays and agree a sequence with the operations manager. Existing cameras keep recording until the new system is confirmed. Drilling and lift work happen when a lane is idle, and we never park where a truck needs to turn.
Can a gate camera capture container seals as well as plates?
Yes, with two cameras rather than one. A narrow view camera with a fast shutter reads plates as trucks slow at the barrier. A second camera positioned at seal height on the driver side records the seal number and condition. Trying to do both from one wide camera gives you a blurry version of each.
We also have a unit in DIP. Can both sites be checked from one login?
Yes, from one app. Each site keeps its own recorder, so a line fault at one place never affects the other. Both appear in the same phone app under one login, with permissions set per manager. If your DIP unit has a different camera brand we can often add it, or we advise when replacing it is the better route.
Our cold store fogs up cameras. Is there a fix?
There is. Cold store cameras need heated housings so the lens does not mist when doors open to warm air. They should also be rated for the store temperature. We mount them just outside the freezer doors where possible and use a heated bullet camera inside when the shelving must be watched directly.
What if a camera fails in the middle of a busy week?
Call or message at any hour. Most camera faults are a cable, a PoE port or a power problem. We can often tell which one remotely before we drive out. With your gate pass details on file, the visit is booked for the same day in most cases. A spare camera comes with us.
